Summary
This is the final part to the documentary series that travels back to the classical world to re-examine their amazingly advanced technology in the areas of weaponry and shipping, as well as how these ancient civilizations used and harnessed power. This third and final part tells the story of power and technology in the ancient world. This program looks at feats of Roman engineering like the aqueducts that were built all over the Roman Empire to direct water to its large cities and the harnessing of natural thermal springs at Bath in England, the best-preserved Roman baths discovered so far. One of the most staggering discoveries was at Barbegal, in southern France, where ruins uncovered in the 1940s proved the existence of a huge Roman water-powered factory: a flour mill. This factory had eight pairs of water wheels that powered the milling of the flour thus evidence that the Romans employed large-scale industry, predating the industrial revolution by hundreds of years. (From the UK, in English, Greek, French and Spanish, English subtitles) (FINAL)
