This module explains how to choose appropriate fluidic settings for phacoemulsification depending on the surgical situation and how to select phacoemulsification power modulations to deliver less phacoemulsification energy into the eye during cataract surgery. It also describes the difference between peristaltic and venturi fluid pumps and how to perform safer, less traumatic, more efficient cataract surgery by tailoring the phacoemulsification power and fluidic settings to the surgical style and patients' eyes
