Summary
Numerous benign and malignant neoplasms may develop in the periocular skin, arising from the epidermis, dermis or eyelid adnexal structures. These lesions may also occur elsewhere on the body, but their appearance and behavior in the eyelids may be unique. Although the large majority of eyelid cutaneous lesions are benign, the main goal in treating periocular lesions is to identify and appropriately diagnose malignancy. This module helps the ophthalmologist recognize and manage the most common benign lesions of the eyelid, and recognize features that may indicate malignancy. It includes 14 images and covers epithelial hyperplasias, benign adnexal cysts, and benign adnexal lesions, and covers histopathologic evaluation
