The Resource Risk Management in Cataract Surgery
- Risk Management in Cataract Surgery
- Statement of responsibility
- GM Bohigian, SA Kamenetzky
- Ophthalmologists have developed excellent techniques to deal with the inevitable complications that occur from time to time in cataract surgery: how to handle vitreous loss, a posterior capsular break, a small pupil, or a dropped nucleus. These refinements have allowed good visual results even in the cases when these situations or others like them arise. This module reviews a strategy for the prevention of endophthalmitis after surgery, advantages and disadvantages of clear cornea versus scleral tunnel incision, risks of various modes of anesthesia, off-label use of intraocular drugs during surgery, and management of patients on anticoagulant therapy
